Six days of dialogue and self-discovery in a supportive learning community.

The dates and details of the 2019 national session are as follows:

May 12-17, 2019: National session of the Institute in Boston, MA

July 21-26, 2019: National session of the Institute in Champaign, IL

July 28-August 2, 2019: National session of the Institute in Champaign, IL

The price of the Institute is $1475 (plus travel) per participant. This cost includes all lodging, meals, and materials for all six days of the Institute.

In 2019, we are offering a 4-day version of the Institute. We have conducted pilot sessions of this format for the Institute with our campus partners and now we are looking at hosting a national session. The 4-day Institute is formatted to help provide the Institute experience in a shorter timeframe to help engage more participants. We recognize that for many participants finding six days away is not possible. We don’t want time to be a reason someone doesn’t attend the Institute. The curriculum for the 4-day and 6-day Institute are the same, the difference being the pace of the days. The cost for attending the 4-day Institute will be $850 per participant – not including travel.

May 20-23, 2019: National session of the Institute in Champaign, IL

We are committed to partnering with organizations to provide the Institute experience for their participants. We are intentional about the word partner, as we don't see ourselves as the typical vendor or speaker you might bring to your organization.  We consider you a partner in our collective effort to fulfill our vision—a just, caring, thriving world where everyone leads with integrity and a healthy disregard for the impossible.

We recognize the success of the program depends on many people working together behind the scenes in order to create the powerful learning experience we know is possible.  We are committed to developing lasting relationships with our partners with the hope that the Institute might serve as the cornerstone of your leadership program for years to come.

To learn more about what it means to partner with LeaderShape® and host a session of the Institute, please read this document or contact to talk more about this possibility.

The Institute is facilitated by a group of volunteers who devote a week of their time to helping develop leaders. They believe in the mission and vision of LeaderShape®, demonstrate a commitment to their core values and are invested in helping individuals grow. Institute facilitators come from higher education, corporate organizations and non-profit settings.

Two Co-Lead Facilitators guide the six-day curriculum. In addition to facilitating learning in the large group setting (what we call the Learning Community), Co-Lead Facilitators share responsibilities that include coordinating the daily logistics of the session and training/supporting the small group Cluster Facilitators.

To apply to serve as a Co-Lead Facilitator, please begin your application here. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, January 8, 2019. If you have any questions about the application process or the Co-Lead Facilitator role, please contact Kristen Young at

Cluster Facilitators are a part of the faculty team during The Institute™. They work directly with a small group of 10-12 participants (a Family Cluster) to encourage authentic dialogue and enhance learning. This process begins by the submission of your personal story. Once we receive that story, we will reach out to talk with you more about the role. Please submit your story here. The deadline to express interest in the Cluster Facilitator role is Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

If you have any questions about the Cluster Facilitator role at a national session, please contact Kristen Young at
