Welcome to LeaderShape‘s web site. Your right to privacy is very important to us. We recognize that providing personal information is an act of trust. Therefore, we have created a privacy policy to protect your personal information. We encourage you to take the time to read this privacy policy and the policy of any web site you visit.
LeaderShape was established in 1988 as an I.R.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. LeaderShape‘s express purpose is to serve by helping, supporting, developing more people to lead with integrity. Our goal is to achieve our mission while providing professional performance and operating with the highest ethical standards.
We adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights policy developed by the American Association of Fund-Raising Counsel, and the American Fundraising Professionals.
LeaderShape has a duty to protect the confidentiality of private, non-public, participant, and contributor information. Respect for our participants’ and contributors’ right to privacy is a basic standard of integrity for all LeaderShape activities.
LeaderShape respects the privacy of all of its users and will not distribute your personal information, including contact information, without your express permission.
Only LeaderShape, Inc. and our partners will be privy to your information. Specifically, the “our partners” phrase in the previous sentence refers to our campus and organizational partners. For example, if you happen to attend a particular college or university hosting a LeaderShape program, only those official campus or organizational employees would have limited access – all of our partners would be subject to this privacy policy.
By default your contact information is displayed only to other members of your session (name, birthday [but not year], email, current institution, and instant message address), but not to the LeaderShape community. You, as a user, will be allowed to set your own level of privacy (show primary contact information; do not show contact information; show all contact information). Until you explicitly set one of these options it will be assumed that no information other than your name will be shared with other members of the LeaderShape community.
LeaderShape, Inc. will NOT sell or distribute your name or any other submitted information to parties outside of the LeaderShape community. LeaderShape, Inc. reserves the right to publish non-identifiable demographic information.
Personal information is required when an individual makes an online gift. The information you provide on this form will be used for the purpose of crediting you correctly for your gift.
Like most standard web site servers, we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our web site.
Our users are given the opportunity to opt-out of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, LeaderShape has an opt-out mechanism so participants and contributors to LeaderShape can keep their e-mail address off of future e-mail lists.
Donors who no longer wish to have their gifts automatically withdrawn may opt-out by contacting LeaderShape through e-mail, mail or telephone.
In order for this web site to properly fulfill its obligation to users it is necessary for us to supplement the information we received with information from 3rd party sources. We use PayPal to verify a user’s credit card information to ensure safe and accurate transactions. For all other information and encryption we utilize Thawte (view Thawte at www.thawte.com).
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a different manner from that stated at the time of collection we will notify user via e-mail. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also e-mail users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
